San Francisco always feels like it is shifting while you are in it. A hill changes the whole frame, the water appears again from somewhere unexpected, and the light can turn a familiar block into something briefly cinematic.
I liked the instability of it. Nothing stayed flat for long, which meant even a short walk could give you a completely different city by the time you looked up again.
